Making Meaning In Literature: A Workshop for Teachers, Grades 6-8  "Workshop 4. Diversity In Texts"  In this program, the teachers talk about the importance of choosing rich texts for their students as a group or individuals, enumerating various criteria that they have developed for this initial classroom decision. Supported by commentary from Dr. Judith Langer, the group looks at the part student interests play in selecting the right text, building thematic study units using a variety of texts, and helping students select texts that meet their needs or help them go further in their experiences with literature. D

Experiencing Shakespeare   EXPERIENCING SHAKESPEARE makes Shakespeare come alive for students. Through television, the web, and social media, students explore the Folger Shakespeare Library, a leader in teaching Shakespeare and home to the world's largest Shakespeare collection. "Experiencing Shakespeare" empowers students in discovering how to read and understand Shakespeare's language. D

Sara's Weeknight Meals  "Carnivores Unite!"  We get it: most of America runs on beef, pork and chicken. So today, Sara's got meat and lots of it. Sara marries the juicy burger marries with Korean barbecue for her special Korean Burgers. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Tuscany's Dolce Vita"  Rick explores the small towns and rural countryside of Tuscany. He hunts for truffles in an oak forest, nibbles through an artichoke festival, shares a farmhouse feast, climbs the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and rides in a classic convertible through the cypress groves of Mona Lisa's backyard.G

Travelscope  "Rwanda - In Search of Chimpanzees"  Joseph continues his Rwanda adventure and turns his attention to the region's other primate populations. Chimpanzee, Olive Baboons, Mona, Blue and Black and White Colobus Monkeys are just a few of the thirteen primate species that populate the Nyungwe National Park. The rest of the area's flora and fauna is equally impressive with more than 140 orchid species and 275 bird species, dozens of them found only in the highlands of Central Africa. D

P. Allen Smith's Garden Home  "Structure"  Allen shows different constructed features at the Garden Home Retreat. He visits the greenhouse at Churchill Downs, a raised vegetable bed in Alabama, and a butterfly conservatory in New Jersey.G

Ask This Old House  "Pruning an Overgrown Hedge; Installing a Kitchen Tile Backsplash"  Landscape contractor Roger Cook helps a homeowner prune an overgrown evergreen hedge. Then Roger, along with host Kevin O'Connor, plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey and general contractor Tom Silva ask "what is it?" Afterward, Tom helps a homeowner install a tile backsplash in his kitchen. D

Cook's Country from America's Test Kitchen  "The Chemistry of Cakes"  Bridget Lancaster shows host Christopher Kimball how to make a perfect lemon Pudding cake with a custardy filling. next, equipment expert Adam Reid is reviewing hand mixers. then, Erin McMurrer reveals the seven steps to making foolproof angel Food cake at home, and finally, Adam uncovers the test kitchen's pick for a tube pan. Lidia's Italy In America  "Baltimore: A Baltimore Classic - The Civic Club Sandwich"  In this episode, Lidia heads to Baltimore, where she visits an institution of Italian food: Di Pasquale's market. Back in the kitchen, Lidia prepares Spiedini alla Romana, Minestrone, and the Italian-American Civic Club Sandwich. D
