He uses half-bricks strategically placed to cheat the joints just enough to make the turns. Inside, wallboard and plaster are up, and the cabinets are going in. D

Ask This Old House  "Preventing Ice Dams; Applying Closed-Cell Spray Foam Insulation in an Attic"  General contractor Tom Silva explains to a homeowner how ice dams form and how to prevent them. He then works with an insulation contractor to apply closed-cell spray foam insulation in an attic. Then Tom, along with host Kevin O'Connor, landscape contractor Roger Cook, and plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey, asks, "What Is It?" Afterward, Richard shares a tip about connecting gutter downspouts. D

We should remember, he says, that behind this Fourth of July holiday are human beings, like Thomas Jefferson, who were as flawed and conflicted as they were inspired, who espoused great humanistic ideals while behaving with reprehensible racial discrimination. That conflict -- between what we know and how we live -- is still a struggle in contemporary politics and society. D

Oregon Field Guide  "Kite Festival/Trees and Pollution/Ultralight Hiking"  FIELD GUIDE cameras find kites from two inches wide to the size of a parade balloon at Oregon's largest kite festival in Lincoln City. Emerging research shows that plants and trees planted in some locations can add to air pollution because they emit isoprenes, which combine with man-made pollutants to create ozone.G

Garrow's Law   As season two begins, Garrow's friend and mentor, attorney John Southouse, is grappling with inner demons and Lady Sarah returns unexpectedly to London with her infant son. Liverpool Assurance Company wants Garrow to prosecute the owners of a slave ship for the value of 133 slaves who were thrown overboard when water ran low aboard ship. Meanwhile Sarah is threatened with ruin by her husband and wants help from Garrow.G

Masterpiece Mystery!  "Endeavour"  Rookie Constable Endeavour Morse is already fed up with police work, having given it a trial after leaving Oxford without graduating and trying a stint in the military. He is ready to turn in his resignation when a murder turns up that only he can solve. Shaun Evans portrays the young constable in this prequel to the Inspector Morse tales.G

New Tricks   UCOS investigates art fraud in the Queen's private collection, which is overseen by the handsome Sir Tim. The team discovers a catalogue of forgeries by an artist and political activist who killed himself after a blaze destroyed his studio. The team seeks to learn who was behind the scam, which dates back 25 years.G

11:30 pm 
Joseph Rosendo's Travelscope  "Northern Ethiopia - Ancient History and Spiritual Present"  Joseph visits the monasteries of Lake Tana, castles of King Fasiladas in Gondar, the stelae of Axum and rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. Along the way, he finds World Heritage sites and traces the lineage of Ethiopia's kings back to the days of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.G
