REGIONAL OUTDOOR NEWS

Tests indicate bison found dead in Montana free of fever
Tissue samples taken from three dead bison found floating in the Yellowstone River in mid-May indicated that the bison did not die from malignant catarrhal fever, which domestic sheep carry but are largely unaffected by it. The bison likely died of blunt-force trauma, probably from falling through ice and being pummeled by debris in the river's high water.

BuRec lays out plans for Upper Snake River Basin at Idaho meeting
At the summer meeting of the Idaho Water Users Association in Sun Valley on Tuesday, Lesa Stark, endangered species program manager with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in Idaho, told attendees that the dams on rivers in southwest Idaho occasionally adversely affect bull trout, but any damage is temporary not permanent. The federal agency is planning 12 projects in the Upper Snake River Basin over the next thirty years, and maintaining a healthy habitat for bull trout is integral to those projects.
