Guests Discuss 'Butterflies' on This Month's D4K

— Airs Tuesday, May 15, at 2:00/1:00 p.m. MT/PT

On this month's D4K, host Joan Cartan-Hansen and her guests will answer questions about butterflies. The program airs Tuesday, May 15, at 2:00/1:00 p.m. MT/PT.

Cartan-Hansen is joined by Steve Burns, director of Zoo Boise, and Paul Castrovillo, an entomologist and insect curator at the Orma J. Smith Museum of Natural History at the College of Idaho.

The program looks at why we need butterflies, how they transform from caterpillars to butterflies, and why they come in so many different colors. Cartan-Hansen and her guests will answer students' questions about butterflies.

Students can watch the show over the air or on the D4K website. They can send questions through email to D4K@idahoptv.org, fax them in before the show to (208) 373-7245, or call in live during the program to (800) 973-9800. Shortly after the show, students can view a Web-only video with Burns and Dr. Castrovillo answering questions that were not part of the on-air broadcast.

The D4K website (idahoptv.org/D4K) provides educational materials throughout the season. Students can access more information and facts about each topic, links, reading lists, a glossary, podcasts of programs, video shorts, full episodes and special D4K Web-exclusive programming.
