Robert MacNeilRobert MacNeil, a Canadian journalist who worked for Reuters, NBC and the BBC, spent the last 20 years of his career at PBS. Highly regarded the co-founder, with Jim Lehrer, of the PBS nightly newscast, the "MacNeil-Lehrer Newshour," MacNeil is also a novelist (Burden of Desire, The Voyage), playwright and memoirist (Wordstruck, Looking for My Country). A longtime student of the English language, his books Do You Speak American? and The Story of English (co-authored by Robert McCrum and William Cran) were also PBS series by the same names.
