When should schools spend the new federal Education Jobs funds? That was the question in our viewer poll last week and the main topic of discussion in last week's show. Before I give the poll results, if you want to learn how much your school district received, check out our database. Click here for districts. Click here for Charter Schools.
Okay, here's what viewers thought:
Â
39% said school districts should spend the funds this year
17% said school districts should spend the money next year
8% said they didn't know or needed more information and
9% suggested other ideas.
What do you think? Send me an email. We will be tracking this issue and I plan to invite this week's guests back in the new year to see how education funding is going and find out what actually happened to the federal funds.
Marcia is taking on a tough topic this week. She will be interviewing the head of Idaho's Department of Fish and Game about the state's Wolf policy. Check it out!

Welcome to Dialogue's 17th season! We are excited about the shows we have coming up. Next week, we will be talking about how Idaho's educational system is faring now that the kids are back in school and now that new federal funds are becoming available. Marcia is working on her annual interviews with authors at the Sun Valley Writer's Conference and October will be debate month. Thanh Tan will be producing and hosting those debates, giving voters a chance to learn more about candidates for statewide office.
We have one other new feature this season. Each week we will be asking viewers to answer a question related to that week's topic. It is an unscientific poll, but an interesting chance to hear what you all think. This week, we asked viewers if they favored the repeal of the 17th amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Here are the results:
Should the 17th Amendment be repealed?
| Yes, repeal | 21% |
| No, don't | 61% |
| Don't know | 18% |
You can find a link to the poll on our Facebook each week starting on Monday with results here in the Diablog on Friday. Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!
